Who can apply for a certificate or an innovation attestation?
Manufacturers, distributors, contractors, installers, designers, architects and other construction professionals.
All service providers and stakeholders active in the construction sector, big or small, can rely on BCCA’s services.
What is the process of certification at BCCA?
You can submit your request via the contact form. Please include who or what you would like to certify and our team will contact you as soon as possible to exchange information.
BCCA verifies whether you meet the required conditions for certification.
Depending on the type of certification, this assessment is based on an (initial) review consisting of audits, inspections, tests, examinations… or a combination of these elements.
An independent and impartial internal committee evaluates the findings.
This committee analyses compliance with the procedure as well as the conformity of the initial assessment results with the requirements.
It then issues an advice on the granting of the certification.
BCCA decides on the awarding of the certification based on this opinion and prepares (or updates) the certification agreement.
All information is handled with strict confidentiality
If the decision is positive, BCCA issues the certificate.
The certification also comes with an agreement specifying, among other things, the conditions that must be met for the certificate to remain valid.
Periodic checks shall be carried out during the term of the certificate to confirm that its validity can be maintained.
The nature and frequency of these checks depend on the given certification scheme.
Innovation attestation
If, during step 3, it becomes clear that certification is not (yet) possible or not relevant, an innovation attestation process may be proposed.
This process follows a similar approach to certification.
When an innovation attestation is issued for a specific product intended for a particular use on a designated site, it is only valid for that site.
The innovation attestation may also be the first step towards future certification.
